In my drawings I play with ideas about growth, structure, order, and interconnectedness. I draw multitudes of distinct shapes upon frameworks and within boundaries without the use of rulers, templates or other aids. Some drawings grow from a single point like a fruit. Other drawings crystallize evenly. A complex drawing can be very time-consuming to make, and exercises my patience and dexterity. Drawing becomes a contemplative activity that fuels my interests in biology, mathematics, and technology. These interests and others in turn are expressed in the drawings, forming a feedback loop. I find the evolution of forms within and between drawings fascinating.
